Ms. Powell

Ms. Powell is a dedicated educator with a passion for children’s learning and care. Ms. Powell has 15 plus years of experience with families and children. Her experience has been in both educational and home environments, with children aged birth through second grade. She has a B.A. in Early Childhood Education from Kendall College. Ms. Powell also attended Lewis University, where she completed her Masters in Organizational Leadership. She is creative, enthusiastic, and sensitive to children’s individual needs.

Ms. Okuda

Ms. Okuda graduated from Columbia College Chicago in May 2014 with a B.A. in Early Childhood Education, Type 04 Teaching License, and a minor in dance. Ms. Okuda also taught dance classes in various styles to children and adults of all ages for over 14 years, all over the Chicagoland area. It was in the dance studio that she realized her true calling was to teach!

During her time in a Reggio Emilia Approach-focused program, she was taught to thoughtfully integrate art and nature into all aspects of the classroom. When Ms. Okuda is not teaching in a classroom, she is teaching at dance studios in the city and suburbs.

Building Empathy and Community with Ms. Powell and Ms. Okuda

Building Empathy and Community is a Reggio and Project-based Learning inspired relationship program for grades Pre-K to 1 (ages 3-6).

Children will develop their social and emotional skills and empathy for the building of relationships and community in the world they live and play in. Ms. Powell and Ms. Okuda inspire exploration and self-discovery through home-based provocations and creative play, inspiring children to connect with their friends, family, and neighbors while developing their relationship skills and sense of community.

Children can join Ms. Powell and Ms. Okuda on a journey of identity, creativity, and exploring relationships.
